🚨 Operation Safe Drives 🚨
Good afternoon,
We hope you're enjoying another scorching hot summer's day! ☀️
Yesterday, your Safer Neighbourhood Team officers conducted an operation on Nottingham Road targeting poor driving standards. This could be anything from driving whilst on a mobile phone, driving without a seatbelt, or even driving with children not being securely fastened into their seat. CREST, (Casualty Reduction Enforcement Support Team), were also in action on Reginald Road South, resulting in 3 drivers caught speeding.
Here is a breakdown on what we dealt with:
- 18 vehicles stopped ✅
There were also random stop checks conducted where advice was given in relation to low tread depth on their tyres, modifications, and more.
Although we are there to enforce the law, we are also there to keep people safe. You're 4 times more likely to be involved in a car collision whilst driving if you're using your mobile phone, and it goes without saying that your seatbelt is there to potentially save your life. Driving whilst doing any of the above creates an unnecessary danger to yourself, and other road users. It is also important that you ensure you conduct regular checks on your vehicle so it is roadworthy.
As a Safer Neighbourhood Team, our priorities are made through a combination of strategic direction, local community feedback, data analysis, and professional assessments. Our current priorities that coincide with this post are as follows:
- Carry our regular speed enforcement in identified areas.
We have acted on these, and will continue to do so, so you can all drive back home to see your families at the end of the day safely 🙂
